Pain or an accident? Call us.
Do you have severe pain, has a tooth been knocked out or broken, does a wound keep bleeding or is a swelling getting bigger? Then call. On the phone we discuss what is needed.
During opening hours
Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:30. Call as early in the day as possible; that gives the best chance that we can help you the same day.
Outside opening hours
Call the same number. The answering machine tells you how to reach the on-call dentist in the region. That service is for complaints that cannot wait until the next working day.
Call 112 if life is in danger
For example if you are short of breath, can no longer swallow properly because of a rapidly growing swelling, if bleeding does not stop, or with serious injury to the head or jaw.
What you can do yourself first
Tooth knocked out
Hold the tooth by the crown, not by the root. Do not scrub it. If it is an adult tooth, carefully put it back in place if you can, or keep it in milk. Call immediately: the first hour counts. Do not put a milk tooth back.
Tooth broken or loose
Keep the broken piece in milk or water and bring it with you. Do not bite on the tooth. Call for an appointment at short notice.
Bleeding after a treatment
Do not rinse. Bite firmly on a folded gauze or a clean handkerchief for half an hour. Does it keep bleeding? Then call.
Severe pain or swelling
A painkiller as described on the leaflet can help. Is the swelling getting bigger, do you have a fever or can you open your mouth less wide? Call the same day.
Crown or filling lost
Keep the crown and bring it with you. This can almost always wait until the next working day.
Complaints after an implant
Mild pain and swelling are normal in the first days. Call if pain increases, or in case of fever, pus or bleeding that does not stop.
